COAI Statement on TRAI Consultation Paper on "Review of MNP Pro
To be attributed to Mr. Rajan S Mathews, DG, COAI
The consultation paper issued today by the TRAI on “Review of MNP Process” is another milestone in TRAI’s consultative process which takes all stakeholder inputs into account.
This new paper will not only help the operators to send their detailed inputs to the Authority but it will also enable the Authority to address certain new issues which have emerged since the notification and applicability of the Regulation in the year 2009 and 2011 respectively.
COAI, and its members are reviewing the paper, so it would be early for us to comment on the issues posed. It is of utmost importance for the sector, that any changes in the regulatory regime should be done only after an effective cost-benefit analysis. The ultimate goal of any regulation is to facilitate the subscribers, while not putting any extra financial or operational burden over the operators.
COAI, will be providing a detailed response only after analyzing the various aspects posed by the TRAI, so that any changes in the MNP process further simplify this process for the subscribers and ease the operational issues of the TSPs at the same time.
