4 Medicos accused of killing monkey: seek anticipatory bail
VELLORE: The principal district and sessions court in Vellore has posted hearing on the anticipatory bail pleas of three students of the Christian Medical College (CMC), who were accused of torturing and killing of a monkey, to December 3.
The students approached the court seeking anticipatory bail since the Bagayam police investigating the case invoked sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act against them.
Public prosecutor A Dilli Babu said when the anticipatory bail petitions of Arun Louis Sasikumar, 20, and Rohit Kumar Yenokotti, 20, came up for hearing on Wednesday, judge S Ananthi posted the hearing to December 3. On Tuesday, the court posted the bail plea of Jasper Samuel Sahu, 20, the prime accused in the case, to December 3.
"The bail plea of the fourth accused in the case, Alex Chekkalayil, is listed for Thursday," said the public prosecutor.
The four students have been suspended by the college administration following an internal inquiry.
Meanwhile, the police were waiting the postmortem report. "After obtaining the report, we will take further course of action," said inspector of Bagayam station Arul Prasad.
