Ragalaipuram Movie Review
Cast: Karunas, Angana, Kovai Sarala, Bharath Reddy, M.S. Bhaskar
Karnus is once again trying to become a full length comic hero, with another comedy caper 'Ragalaipuram'. The story begins with Velu (karunas) who is a coward but due to his policeman father’s death he gets that job. And some instances also favor him and make him get good promotions.
At one point, Velu mistakes a medical condition to be cancer for him so in order to get insurance cover for his mother and two sisters, he starts taking up daring operations and dealing with the bad guys. Eventually he gets many enemies but also discovers the truth about his health. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
The film is a remake of Sreenivasan’s 1991 Malayalam comedy caper 'Aanaval Mothiram'. The original itself was inspired from the Hollywood comedy 'Short Time'. The Tamil remake is nowhere near the original, as director Mano’s jokes fall flat and the comic scenes are so predictable. Karnas as the bumbling cop has also a love interest in the form of Angana, who has only a single expression throughout the film.
It has been laced with commercial elements including an item number and comedy featuring ex-sex bomb Shakeela.
