Dhanush’s 25th film Velai illa pattadaari is a milestone in dhanush carrer and it was a special and most awaited film for the dhanush fans. The film is reportedly a "Message to youth's with some comedy on rising unemployment and the growing frustration for jobs with Love", while Dhanush (Raghuvaran) plays the central character, civil engineering graduate who is still on the lookout for a job while his younger brother is already working and earning well.
Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan play Dhanush’s parents. He wants to work only in the field he studied for - Civil Engineering. Finally he gets job in his feild, there he faces trouble from the villain. Amala Paul, neighborhood girlfriend meets Dhanush(Raghuvaran) with fight, after fall in love with Dhanush.
How Dhanush beat the villin(Amithesh) and complete the building construction work is the remaining story. The interval twist is one of the most cliched scenes in the history of Tamil cinema. The screenplay is good. Anirudh backdrop score is kindless the audiences at right place.
The performence of Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan is nice. Director Velraj made a decent debut as director. He handle the camera as well. Dhanush idiosyncratic gestures in the first half is good. Totally the film is dedicated to all the Engineering Students.
