Vijay Attacks Stalin Over Alliance Stand

Actor-politician and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Thursday strongly criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during a public rally in Salem.

Referring to an interview given by the Chief Minister to India Today, Vijay said Mr. Stalin had spoken about alliance politics but did not clearly answer questions about sharing power with the Congress party. Vijay questioned why the Congress, which is part of the ruling alliance in Tamil Nadu, has not been given a role in the State government.

Speaking at the rally, Vijay said, “Stalin said an alliance will not work in Tamil Nadu,” and pointed out what he described as tensions within the ruling coalition. He suggested that there appears to be a difference between what is said publicly about alliance unity and what is happening in practice.

Vijay accused the DMK leadership of not being transparent about its stand on power-sharing with its allies. He said if parties contest elections together and seek votes as an alliance, they should also share responsibility in governance. He claimed that keeping allies out of the government raises questions about trust and cooperation within the coalition.

The TVK chief also used the opportunity to present his party as an alternative in Tamil Nadu politics. He said his party stands for clear and honest politics and promised that alliances under his leadership would be based on mutual respect and fairness.
