Dun & Bradstreet AI Momentum Survey: Indian Businesses Accelerate AI Adoption and ROI, but Only 4% Have Data Fully Ready For AI

Dun & Bradstreet released findings from its latest AI Momentum Survey for India, revealing strong momentum in AI adoption across Indian enterprises. AI adoption is now widespread, investment sentiment is robust, and businesses report measurable returns from AI initiatives. The findings suggest that enterprise AI is entering a new phase of maturity, as organizations are increasingly seeing value from AI, but still face a harder challenge in scaling those returns consistently across the enterprise.

Key Findings Include:

Enterprise AI adoption is widespread

  • 100% of surveyed Indian businesses report AI-related projects underway.
  • 44% are in the planning or piloting stage, 30% are scaling AI into production, 19% have operationalised AI across multiple core processes, and 7% are already deploying agentic AI workflows.

AI investment is committed

  • 56% expect a moderate increase in AI investments and 13% expect a significant increase.
  • 31% expect AI spending to remain at current levels, reflecting continued commitment to AI initiatives.
  • No respondents anticipate a decline in AI spending.

AI ROI is visible, but uneven

  • 73% of organisations report some level of measurable return from AI investments.
  • The largest share, 50%, reports ROI in specific pockets of the business, with some pilots showing returns. 23% report broad or strong ROI across multiple projects.

Enterprise data is not yet fully ready for AI at scale

  • Only 4% of organisations report their enterprise data is fully ready to support AI at scale.
  • 58% describe their enterprise data as partially ready, while 30% consider it mostly ready.
  • The findings suggest a wide gap between data that can support early AI progress and data that is ready to support scaled, repeatable ROI across the enterprise.

"Indian businesses are moving quickly from AI experimentation to enterprise adoption, with growing evidence of business value and return on investment," said Julian Prower, Executive Vice President, Global Business Operations & Transformation and Managing Director & CEO, India & Taiwan, Dun & Bradstreet. As organisations scale AI across the enterprise, the quality of their data will increasingly determine the quality of outcomes. Dun & Bradstreet enables organizations to build AI on a foundation of trusted business identity, context, and insight, helping translate the AI momentum into sustainable growth and competitive advantage."

Dun & Bradstreet's AI Momentum Survey, Q3 findings, reinforce a broader trend emerging globally: organisations are moving beyond AI experimentation and focusing on how to scale AI across the enterprise. While investment and adoption continue to advance, achieving consistent business outcomes increasingly depends on data readiness, governance, and the ability to operationalise AI effectively across business functions.
