AIADMK allots 27 seats to BJP, 18 to PMK, and 11 to AMMK
The AIADMK-led alliance has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, marking a significant consolidation of the opposition to challenge the ruling DMK.
Under this agreement, the BJP has been allotted 27 seats, while the PMK receives 18 and TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK is set to contest 11 seats.
The deal was formalised following high-level negotiations in Chennai and Delhi, involving AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, aimed at uniting the traditional vote banks of the late J. Jayalalithaa with national and regional partners.
The AIADMK itself will contest the vast majority of the remaining constituencies, likely exceeding 170 seats, as it seeks to secure a simple majority of 118 on its own.
This “Mega Alliance” also includes smaller partners like the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), which are expected to receive between one and three seats each.
By bringing the AMMK and PMK into the fold, the alliance aims to strengthen its position in the southern and northern districts respectively.
With the state scheduled to vote on April 23, 2026, this pact sets the stage for a high-stakes battle against the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance.
