The Secret Life of Pets 2 - Movie Review

The Secret Life of Pets 2 - Movie Review

The sequel to the 2016 movie, starts off where it ended 3 years ago. In this movie, Max, the Jack-Russel Terrier, voiced by Patton Oswalt has to adapt to the life changing situations while taking care of Liam, his owner's kid. The story travels in three different paths. First is Max's vacation to the countryside farm with his family where he meets Rooster, a Welsh Sheepdog, brilliantly voiced by Harrison Ford and learns about adapting to changes in life and being a bold and brave dog. The second storyline is about Gidget, a white Pomeranian, who is supposed to take care of Max's favourite toy but loses it among a house of cats and retrieves it. The third storyline, which looks like the main story of the movie, is where Snowball, voiced by Kevin Hart and Daisy, voiced by Tiffany Haddish, try and save a white tiger, HU from the clutches of an evil and abusive circus owner Sergei, voiced by Nick Kroll. While the three storylines travel parallely for almost majority of the movie, all the central characters move towards one climax together.

The movie has a brilliant cast, even though the lead character was voice by Louis CK in the earlier film, Patton Oswalt sounded perfect as Max. The movie though is a reworking of many old stories, the best part of doing such a thing for kids is, every old story is new to kids and that is what fascinates kids.

It is pretty evident that kids will absolutely love this movie and will put a smile on your face the very moment the movie starts and will be difficult to wipe off that smile till the movie ends. That is where the movie's success is. The Chris Renaud returns to direct the sequel as well along with his writer Brian Lynch who worked with him in the first part. The musical score by the twice Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat deserves a special mention.

With almost majority of the cast and crew returning to the sequel, Universal has delivered a very enjoyable and funny kids movie this summer, yet again. Take the kids to The Secret Life of Pets 2 and you wont be disappointed. Kids will absolutely enjoy the movie.
