With the Launch of Leap, the hotel now proudly offers an all-encompassing mind, body and lifestyle experience. This transformational lifestyle studio offers an extensive range of wellness services including targeted classes and expertly-tailored personal training programmes.

The addition of this wellness journey into the hotel is the brainchild of Industrialist and owner of Park Hyatt Chennai, Viju Mahtaney, a fervent promoter of health and fitness as well.

Leap Wellness Studio is a pioneer in the field of holistic fitness - the first Pilates, Yoga, Holistic Strength and Core Training studio of its kind in Chennai. Established in 2008 and founded by Nita and Santosh who have over twenty-five years of experience in fitness modalities that include Pilates, Yoga, TRX, Weight Training Strength, Resistance Stretching, Nia, Zumba, Booty Barre to name a few.

In addition to the wellness offerings, Leap also encompasses an indoor golf studio with cutting edge facility. The studio provides golf coaching and practice sessions under the supervision of Golf Coach Sandeep Syal, who is a National golf academy of India certified teaching professional and Callaway golf staff professional.

Core Functional Team

Nita started her fitness journey as a certified aerobics instructor at Reebok. She soon ventured into Sivananda & Iyengar Styles of Yoga.  She moved on to equip herself with a certification as Gym Trainer with the Sports Performance Assessment Rehabilitation Research Centre, SPARRC, Chennai. Eventually, Nita started practicing Pilates and was awarded certification from STOTT Pilates, the USA in 2008. She continued with an advanced level certification in Pilates from STOTT Institute, the USA in 2010. Over her annual trips to the USA Nita explored fitness disciplines that also included Kettle Bell training Cross-Fit Training and TRX Body Conditioning, that were conducted by certified instructors in San Francisco. She loves exercising to music and is a certified trainer in Zumba Fitness (Levels I & II), Booty Barre, and Masala Bhangra. She also acquired the distinction of holding a Green Belt in Neuromuscular Integrative Action (NIA).

Santosh's tryst with fitness started well in advance in senior High school field Sports events. He practiced various martial arts like Shorinji Kempo, Tai Chi, Kalari and Qi Gong. Discovering the discipline of Hatha yoga in 1993, he soon certified as a Hatha Yoga teacher in year 2000 from the Sivananda Ashram. He went on to study Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga forms of Hatha Yoga and developed his style of Yoga, - the Core Yoga. He also received certification as Gym Trainer from the Sports Performance Assessment Rehabilitation Research Centre (SPARRC), Chennai. Santosh added another dimension to his teaching-practice with an Advance level certification in Pilates from STOTT Institute, the USA in 2008. On his yearly trips to the USA, he attended classes on various fitness disciplines, learned Kettle Bell training conducted by RKC level certified instructors, and Cross-Fit training and TRX body conditioning at the headquarters in San Francisco. He also attended a Foundation level training in Christopher Harrison's Anti-Gravity Yoga. Santosh continues to keep abreast of the latest programs on fitness and related modalities.

Sandeep Syal is a professional golfer & coach with decades of experience and has won many awards for his achivements & contribution to Golf. Certified and trained Coach by Kel Llewellyn of Australia and China Open winner Cheng Jun at Beijing Golf Academy, China, Sandeep Syal is also a member and approved licensed coach by Indian National Golf Academy since 2007.

About the Visiting Trainers

Sandile Sibeko – a seasoned international Biokineticist with over 20 years’ experience in exercise and sports science. With an undergraduate degree in Human Movement Science and a post graduate degree in Biokinetics, he specializes in sports injury rehabilitation and sports performance enhancement

Aparna Nagesh – versatile dance professional with over 14 years of training, teaching and performance experience. A certified Reebok fitness instructor, she has also recently completed an intensive dance & vocal technique course at Broadway Dance Center, New York.

Sridevi - trained, certified Yoga Instructor (from SVYASA University, Bangalore) in Therapeutic Yoga. She specializes in prenatal and postnatal yoga, yoga for fitness (for sports professionals).

Sree – fitness enthusiast with more than a decade of experience with extensive exposure to different styles of yoga, pre and post-natal yoga, Pilates and functional training. She is now a Yoga Alliance certified RYT200 teacher from A1000 Yoga Academy.

Habiba Patel – certified Zumba instructor with extensive experience in conduction Zumba and weight loss sessions at renowned fitness centres in the city.

R.Srividya – corporate wellbeing and personal wellbeing coach who will be conducting meditation sessions at Leap Wellness Studio.
