“PRASIDH KRISHNA’S IMPACT IS PRICELESS”: EOIN MORGAN AFTER GT'S WIN OVER KKR
Speaking exclusively on Kuhl Fans Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, JioStar expert Eoin Morgan dissected Kolkata Knight Riders’ performance and their inability to bounce back:
"Kolkata Knight Riders has simply not bounced back as well as we would have liked them to. It’s always a good sign for a strong team with a lot of character around, but they had the same failures that they’ve shown throughout the tournament. They made a couple of changes, mainly to try and gain some impetus in their batting line-up, and it didn’t necessarily come off. Were the changes worth it? They'll sit back and say no. It was interesting to hear Ajinkya Rahane talk about 199 being a chaseable score. Because towards the back end of Gujarat Titans’ innings, we thought the ball held up more than we expected. That made finding boundaries harder. But there was no rhythm, no substantial partnerships—almost the polar opposite of what Gujarat Titans displayed today."
Morgan also praised Gujarat Titans’ seamer Prasidh Krishna for his growing rhythm and control during the middle overs:
“He’s the purple cap holder at the moment, and his rhythm just keeps getting better. We know he has that extra bit of pace to work with, but you have to admire the strength he brings during the middle phase of the game. As a captain, having a seamer who can make that kind of impact in the middle overs is absolutely priceless. He now finds himself with the most wickets in this year’s tournament—by some margin, actually, by four. It’s great to see him growing as a player, evolving across formats, and now being rewarded with national honours as well.”
JioStar expert Ambati Rayudu analyzed Shubman Gill’s fluent knock and his ability to adapt on a tough pitch:
“It all started with Harshit Rana bowling those two wide deliveries—Gill was struggling a bit before that. But after that, he really found his rhythm. We saw some incredible shots—pure cricketing strokes. That slog sweep against Sunil Narine was especially impressive. It wasn’t an easy shot to execute, and he managed runs all around the pitch. That shows batsmanship—boundaries along the ground, intelligent placement. It speaks to the quality he has, and the strength of the top-order partnerships. That’s how you bat on a slow, sluggish pitch. Incredible batting by Shubman Gill.”
Rayudu also praised Sai Sudharsan for his classical approach and composure at the crease this TATA IPL season:
“It gives us such joy to watch him bat. As a classical batsman, he shows how the game can still be played in a traditional style—use the pace of the ball, play under your eyes, keep it along the ground, and play smart cricket. Playing smart cricket brings runs and also builds confidence. When you have that kind of confidence in the dugout, it creates a ripple effect. Everyone feeds off that momentum, and your judgment and clarity of thought become top-notch. That’s what we’re seeing with him this season.”
