Actor Sathyaraj’s daughter Divya is a leading nutritionist in India, she had written a letter to the PMO a few years ago criticising the NEET exams and the letter had gone viral.Divya has started a people’s movement called “Mahilmadhi iyakkam” to provide nutritious food to people in the lower income group. She had also requested the minister of agriculture to provide direct income support to the small farmers thus compensating their loss due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Divya had recently made a statement against the Rath yatra that was supposed to take place in TamilNadu stating that it is irresponsible to plan a large religious procession during the Covid pandemic situation.”As a nutritionist I have always been concerned about public health. Social distancing is extremely significant at the moment and conducting the rath yatra is against public well being.I stand by what I said, I strongly condemn the rath yatra during the Covid 19 situation as it is against public safety .I will not apologise”.
