Continuing a six-generation-long initiative of providing textbooks to higher education students, the Rajasthan Youth Association (RYA) held its 63rd annual book distribution ceremony today at the Valluvar Kottam auditorium in Chennai.
Mr. G. L. Gnanadeva, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Mr. Ashok Kumar Mundra, Secretary of D.G. Vaishnav College, and Mr. Rajesh Surana, Founder and CEO of Med Code Service Inc., participated in the event as guests of honour.
During the event, Mr. Gowthamchand Jain, former Chairman of the RYA Book Bank, was felicitated. The event commenced with the 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu' and a prayer.
The simple objective of the ‘Book Bank Project’ is to ensure that no deserving student is deprived of education due to the cost of textbooks. Launched as a modest initiative, it has today evolved into a people’s movement that removes barriers to education and nurtures the dreams of thousands of students.
Thanks to the continued support of our members, donors, and volunteers, we have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of over 160,000 students over the past 63 years; we remain committed to further expanding this initiative in the years ahead.

Speaking about the vision and features of the scheme, Book Bank Chairman Bipin M. Jain presented the report for the year 2026-27. Beyond caste, race or religion,
He pointed out that books for Arts, Science, and Engineering courses are being provided to all college students in the Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, and Chengalpattu districts. He also explained the functioning of the ‘Book Bank’ through a visual presentation.
Special guests Mr. Ashok Kumar Mundra and Mr. Rajesh Surana motivated the students through their speeches and commended the work carried out by the RYA Book Bank since 1964.
All guests and donors were honored at the event. Secretary Mr. Vikas Martia delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the national anthem.
