T.N. Govt. Plans Elevated Corridor Between Tambaram and Chengalpattu

The T.N. Public Works Minister Aadhav Arjuna recently announced in the Assembly that the government is planning to ease traffic congestion on roads connecting Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Mamallapurum to Chennai. He shared that officials are working on a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for an eight-lane road between Chennai and Kanniyakumari. Arjuna also mentioned the potential implementation of an elevated corridor between Tambaram and Chengalpattu.

During the discussion, former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami questioned whether the government would proceed with the elevated corridor project, which was initially proposed by the AIADMK government. Arjuna acknowledged the issue and explained that the government has already outlined plans for the eight-lane road in the budget. He emphasized that this road is crucial to reduce traffic congestion and accidents on the route.

Arjuna also highlighted the challenges of traveling between key locations, such as the time it takes to travel from Chengalpattu to Chennai’s airport or from Tiruvallur to Poonamallee. He assured that officials will prepare a DPR for both the roads around Chennai and the Tambaram-Chengalpattu elevated corridor.

The minister shared that he plans to meet with the Union Minister soon to discuss further steps toward implementing these projects.
