SRMIST Felicitates Alumni Volleyball Players for India's Historic AVC Men's Volleyball Cup 2026 Bronze Medal Victory
The Directorate of Sports, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), organized a grand felicitation ceremony to honour its distinguished alumni who represented India in the AVC Men's Volleyball Cup 2026, held from 20th to 28th June 2026 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Team India created history by securing the Bronze Medal at the prestigious continental championship.
The felicitation function was presided over by Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST, KTR). The event was graced by Mr Vijay Raja MLA,Thiruporur, Prof R Mohanakrishnan, Director of Sports, and Mr. S. Dakshinamoorthy, SRMIST Men Volleyball Coach along with faculty members, coaches, students, and sports enthusiasts, who came together to celebrate the outstanding achievement of the SRMIST alumni.
The honoured international volleyball players included Mr. Jerome Vinith (BPCL), Mr. Muthusamy (Income Tax Department), Mr. Ramanathan (Indian Railways), and Mr. Om Lad Vasanth (Indian Overseas Bank – IOB). All four players were present at the function and were felicitated for their exceptional contribution to India's historic bronze medal-winning campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. Ponnusamy congratulated the players on their remarkable achievement and appreciated their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. He noted that their success has brought immense pride to SRMIST and the nation while inspiring the younger generation of athletes to pursue sporting excellence at the highest level.
