SRM Institute of Science and Technology Celebrated World Bicycle Day with Enthusiasm and Purpose
In proud alignment with the FIT India Movement & Association of Indian Universities and the nationwide "Sundays on Cycle" initiative, Directorate of Sports SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) Kattankulthur Campus Chengalpattu District Tamilnadu enthusiastically celebrated World Bicycle Day on 1st June 2025. This year’s observance was especially significant as it marked the Silver Jubilee (25th edition) of the "Sundays on Cycle" campaign—a milestone in India’s collective journey toward promoting fitness, sustainability, and community well-being through cycling.
The event flagged off from the SRMIST Entrance Gate from the footstep of our Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi statue and saw the spirited participation of over 100 students. With vibrant energy and a shared commitment to health, the rally coursed through the campus roads for approximately 45 minutes, culminating at the expansive ground beside the majestic SRM Tech Park. The entire event was conducted with utmost discipline and adherence to safety norms, including the use of helmets and compliance with traffic regulations.
More than just a bicycle rally, the event served as a powerful platform to promote physical fitness, environmental consciousness, and social unity. It concluded with the FIT India Pledge, where participants reaffirmed their dedication to leading active lifestyles, making time for daily fitness, and inspiring those around them to embrace healthier habits.
