Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for musician and percussionist Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma
Renowned musician and percussionist Vidwan Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma, popularly known as ‘Shivu’, was conferred the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2025 in recognition of his distinguished contribution to Indian classical music. He received the honour from the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Hailing from a distinguished family of musicians, Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma is the son of renowned violinist and music teacher Vidwan Anoor R. Ramakrishna and Smt. Sree Lakshmi. Through his exceptional artistry, scholarship and sustained dedication, he has made significant contributions to Indian classical music, with percussion being an important aspect of his artistic journey.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, one of India’s most prestigious national honours in the performing arts, recognises his outstanding artistic contribution and his enduring role in enriching and promoting Indian classical music.
