Jadeja Praises Suthar’s ‘Dream Ball’ Against Chandimal
Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja praised young bowler Manav Suthar for his impressive bowling during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle. Jadeja called Suthar’s opening delivery, which dismissed experienced batsman Dinesh Chandimal, a “left-arm spinner’s dream ball
The day saw Suthar take four wickets and Jadeja reach 350 Test wickets, marking another milestone in his career. Despite Sri Lanka’s efforts, led by Niroshan Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha, the Indian spinners dominated. Suthar’s first delivery spun sharply, drifting into Chandimal and landing safely in Rishabh Pant’s gloves.
In a video shared on BCCI’s website, Jadeja expressed his admiration for the delivery. He noted how it was a high-quality ball and appreciated seeing a proper left-arm spinner’s dream ball live. Suthar congratulated Jadeja on his achievement, while Jadeja shared insights into his bowling approach, focusing on stump lines and attacking left-handers.
Sri Lanka managed 284 in their first innings, falling short of India’s 462 by 178 runs. Dinusha scored a century, and Dickwella supported him with a strong partnership. However, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Dickwella, and Suthar along with Jadeja kept Sri Lanka from scoring more heavily.
Overall, it was a day where Indian spinners proved their worth, outsmarting the Sri Lankan batting lineup. (ANI)
