Canon Celebrates 30 Years of PowerShot with a PowerShot G7 X Mark III
Canon Inc. announced on 5 February 2026 that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of Canon’s PowerShot digital compact camera lineup. In commemoration of this milestone, a PowerShot G7 X Mark III model featuring a special-edition colour in limited quantity and 30th anniversary logo will be released.
Since the launch of the inaugural PowerShot 600 in July 1996, the PowerShot lineup has expanded to cater to diverse user needs. Developed for users to enjoy capturing high-quality photos and videos with greater ease, the lineup has been embraced by users of all levels from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. The overall production volume of compact digital cameras including the IXUS series exceeded 200 million units in December 2025 worldwide.
The current PowerShot lineup consists of three series that are tailored to suit different lifestyle needs: the G series packs exceptional image quality and rich features into compact and lightweight bodies; the V series, enables effortless advanced video shooting, and the SX series offers powerful zoom capabilities.
Canon will continue to address users’ evolving needs through the PowerShot series, pursuing advanced technologies and expressive capabilities to contribute to the continued growth of photo and video culture.
Launch of the PowerShot 30th Anniversary Commemorative Edition
First launched in August 2019, the PowerShot G7 X Mark III delivers rich imaging capabilities with a 1.0-inch stacked CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels[1], optics with a large and bright maximum aperture, and a 4.2x zoom lens. In addition to still shooting, it is equipped with convenient video features such as the vlogging-centric Video Blog recording mode.

The limited quantity commemorative edition comes with an exclusive graphite finish, a knurled control ring, and a distinguished 30th anniversary logo.
