Apollo SHINE Foundation Partners with Tweak & Eat to Strengthen NCD Prevention Among College Students Through AI-Powered Nutrition Support

Apollo SHINE Foundation, the student-focused not-for-profit initiative of the Apollo Hospitals Group, announced a strategic technology partnership with Tweak & Eat, a US-based AI-driven health and nutrition platform, to further strengthen its preventive healthcare efforts among college students. The collaboration aims to support students identified as ‘at-risk’ for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through Apollo SHINE’s large-scale screening programs by providing them access to the advanced Tweak & Eat with EatGPT digital health platform.

The partnership comes in the wake of Apollo SHINE’s nationwide “Catch ’Em Young” initiative, which targets the screening of over one lakh college students across India. Findings from the program have highlighted a growing prevalence of early NCD risk markers, including obesity, pre-diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome, among young adults, underlining the urgent need for timely, actionable interventions beyond diagnosis.

Under this alliance, students shortlisted through Apollo SHINE’s NCD screening program will receive access to Tweak & Eat’s premium services. The platform integrates artificial intelligence with expert human nutrition support, offering hyper-personalized dietary and lifestyle guidance through EatGPT, a Generative AI health coach. Students are guided in real time on nutrition choices, physical activity, and overall lifestyle modification, enabling them to translate screening insights into daily, sustainable health actions.

Tweak & Eat functions as a comprehensive digital lifestyle coaching solution, enabling users to upload photographs of their meals for instant nutritional analysis and actionable “tweaks” related to portion size, food substitutions, and balance. The platform also provides personalized meal plans, one-on-one consultations with certified nutritionists, customized exercise routines, and tracking of key health parameters such as nutrition intake, hydration, sleep, physical activity, meditation, and supplements, supported by detailed digital health reports.

Kishore Manohar, Director, Apollo SHINE Foundation, said, “The rise of Non-Communicable Diseases among the student population is a silent crisis that requires more than just diagnosis; it demands actionable, daily solutions. We are thrilled to onboard Tweak & Eat with EatGPT as our technology partner. By placing this powerful tool in the hands of the students who need it most, we are bridging the gap between identifying a health risk and actively managing it. Tweak & Eat’s ability to modify a student’s actual plate in real time makes healthy living practical rather than theoretical.”

Dr. Indira Jayakumar, Medical Director, Apollo SHINE Foundation, said, “Apollo SHINE’s NCD screening of 1 lakh students reveals alarming trends, 4 in 10 are overweight or obese, 1 in 50 have elevated random blood sugar levels, and 1 in 20 have high blood pressure. Equally shocking is that 10% of students meet the criteria for Metabolic Syndrome, with significantly raised triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Mindful improvements in eating habits and physical activity are essential at this stage. Partnering with Tweak & Eat allows us to guide students in real time, helping them transform their everyday meals into balanced, nutritious plates. This collaboration is a critical step in preventing lifestyle diseases before they escalate.”

Narayanan Ram, CEO, Tweak & Eat, said, “We have seen incredible success in helping patients manage and even reverse NCDs by focusing on the one thing they do multiple times a day: eating. Partnering with Apollo SHINE allows us to bring this impact to a younger demographic where prevention is most effective. With the integration of EatGPT, we are delivering a level of incredible personalization that was previously impossible. The AI doesn’t just count calories; it understands the student’s specific metabolic profile and offers tailored guidance, acting as a dedicated health mentor in their pocket.”

Headquartered in the United States and operating across multiple countries, Tweak & Eat has achieved significant scale with over four million app installs and a rapidly growing subscriber base. Its proprietary AI technology is powered by a database of over 32 million food items and one million AI-trained meal images, enabling highly accurate, real-time nutritional guidance.

This partnership represents a significant step in digitizing preventive healthcare for India’s youth, ensuring that students emerging from screening programs are supported not only with risk identification, but with practical, technology-enabled solutions to build healthier futures.
