AIU All India Sports Meet 2026 Successfully Concludes at SRMIST
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) All India Sports Meet 2026 for Directors of Sports concluded successfully on 07 July 2026 at the Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand Indoor Stadium, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur.
The one-day national meet witnessed the participation of nearly 200 Directors of Sports and sports administrators from universities across the North, South, East, and West Zones of India. The event marked a historic milestone as, for the first time in AIU Sports history, Directors of Sports from all four zones came together at a single venue to discuss the future of university sports.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar Pathak, President, AIU, and Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, AIU, in the presence of Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor, SRMIST, Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu, Pro Chancellor (Administration), SRMIST, and Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, Pro Chancellor (Academics), SRMIST. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice-Chancellor, SRMIST, with Dr. Sinku Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, AIU, serving as the Organising Secretary and Prof. R. Mohanakrishnan, Director of Sports, SRMIST, as the Convenor.
The meet featured expert technical sessions, interactive discussions, and an open-house forum that contributed valuable recommendations towards the AIU Sports 2030 Roadmap, focusing on university sports excellence, governance, sports science, anti-doping, research, and institutional leadership.
Delegates appreciated the excellent hospitality, accommodation, transportation, and overall arrangements made by SRMIST. The successful completion of the meet reaffirmed the shared commitment of AIU and SRMIST to strengthening university sports through collaboration, innovation, and strategic leadership.
