MSEVA ANNOUNCES INNOVATIVE APP DEVELOPMENT CONTEST


~ Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in collaboration with Society for Electronic Transaction and Security (SETS) Chennai organised a workshop on indigenous technologies and emerging solutions for the Tamil Nadu State department officials ~


Chennai, March 20h, 2023: mSeva Appstore, India’s indigenously developed Appstore under Atmanirbhar Bharat for securely hosting Android apps, has announced an ‘Innovative App Development’ contest through which interested individuals can develop innovative mobile applications under specific categories - Government Services App, Education/Reference/m-learning App, Lifestyle/Travel/Entertainment/News App, Productivity/Tools/Finance App and Agriculture/Food/Health App. The last date to submit the entries is May 31st, 2023. Those interested can register at https://apps.mgov.gov.in/AppContest/.  The winners in each of these categories will be rewarded with a prize worth Rs 25000/-. 
 
mSeva Appstore has been developed by C-DAC under the guidance of Ministry of Electronics and Information technology.  

The contest was launched by Mr. E. Magesh, Director General, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in the one-day workshop on e-Governance solutions & services offered by C-DAC and  cybersecurity solutions developed by Society for Electronic Transaction and Security (SETS) for Tamil Nadu Government, today. 

Speaking at the event, Mr. E.Magesh, said, “C-DAC is willing to collaborate with organisations for e-Governance products creation and solutions. We are also open to conducting workshops for knowledge sharing.” 

Mr. J. Kumaragurubaran, IAS, Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Information Technology and Digital Services Department, the Chief Guest for the event, placed on record his appreciation for the efforts of C-DAC and SETS in developing and deploying solutions for the government.  He spoke about the evolving technology landscape and the adoption of modern e-governance solutions and cyber security solutions for providing effective citizen centric services. He stressed on the importance of building awareness about C-DAC’s e-Governance solutions available for government departments. 
“Connecting with people should be the focus of all the activities that we do. Attaining last mile connectivity and technical capacity is paramount. The work to transform the lifestyle of people in rural Tamil Nadu is happening in full swing. The state government has reached out to 2500 villages through gram panchayats to up the game of optical fibre connectivity, as of now,” he said.  
Key experts Mr A John Lousie, MD, Elcot and Mr. A. K. Kamal Kishore, IAS, MD, TANFINET were also part of the workshop. In his address, the latter emphasised on the need for collaboration and usage of cutting-edge technologies for governance. 
Mr. E Magesh shared the key contributions of C-DAC in various technology areas including high performance computing, microprocessor development, AI & multilingual computing, cybersecurity, health and e-Governance solutions.
Dr. N. Subramanian, Executive Director, SETS, Chennai presented the key contributions of SETS in developing indigenous cybersecurity solutions in the areas of cryptology, hardware security, quantum security and network security areas. 
Mr. Sanjeev Banzal, Director General, ERNET India, New Delhi, stressed on the importance of network connectivity for the last mile delivery of governance services. 
Dr. Padmaja Joshi, Senior Director, C-DAC Mumbai spoke about the importance of key solutions used for e-Governance like e-Pramaan, Mobile Seva and e-Hastakshar, among others.   
Mr. L.R Prakash, Senior Director and Head of C-DAC Chennai shared the details of their solutions like BOSS operating system, Meghdoot cloud stack, and contributions to Tamilnadu state cyber security. 
The workshop had detailed technical sessions covering many national level e-Governance solutions such as e-Pramaan Meripehchaan, mSeva Appstore, Aadhaar Data Vault service, e-Hastakshar etc. The solutions from C-DAC like Business continuity solution Revival, language solutions, chatbot, security solutions, security audits designed to simplify the efforts of building e-Governance in the state, were explained.   
The team from SETS also shared the details of their security solutions like Virtual private area network (VPN), ITMA, Certifying Authority Software, QRNG etc.  and their need in today’s world. As part of the workshop, products from C-DAC, SETS and other industries, were also displayed.
