Lionsgate Play brings the gavel down with Ravi Gogula’s Legally Veer, a high-stakes courtroom thriller streaming October 10

There’s a hush you can feel before the first objection is raised, the kind that makes every throat clear a little softer and every notebook turns into a shield. Legally Veer lives in that hush and then slices through it with one truth, one trial, and one question - ‘Will justice finally win?’. Streaming October 10 on Lionsgate Play, the film drops us into Hata City as a murder case begins to swallow reputations whole. Veer, a young advocate, steps forward when standing back would be easier; tying himself to a client the city already fears and a truth no one wants unearthed. Outside courtrooms, whispers rule; inside, decorum is weaponised and procedure turns predatory. What starts as a defense hardens into a reckoning, not just with the evidence, but with the cost of choosing what’s right when it is painfully inconvenient.

In his debut, Malikireddy Veer Reddy anchors the film with raw intensity. Veer’s journey isn’t just about one case; it’s about a system rigged for the powerful, where justice is promised but not to everyone. If justice is a promise, who gets to collect?

The courtroom becomes a battleground. On one hand, Veer, stubborn, precise, learns the room in real time. On the other hand, Satyanarayana, a veteran whose calm, quiet command steers the case like gravity. Here, every look can be an argument and a pause a trap; the law is the language, but power writes the accent. Director Ravi Gogula keeps the camera honest and the rhythm unhurried, letting the pressure steep until every exchange tastes of risk. Surrounding Veer are Priyanka Rewri, Thanuja Puttaswamy, Delhi Ganesh, and Leela Samson inhabit a circle of allies, skeptics, and gatekeepers who shape the outcome through choices, not speeches. Because in this world, truth rarely arrives clean and never arrives alone.

Talking about how the film came to be, Director Ravi Gogula said, “When I began writing Legally Veer, I wanted the trial itself to be the engine of the story. I have always been fascinated by how power shifts inside a courtroom — not only through law, but through the psychology of the people present. One carefully framed question can alter the course of a case; one hesitation can unravel a strategy. That quiet, tactile tension is what makes courtroom drama cinematic, and my aim was to let audiences feel the danger in those small moments. For me, the film is less about the verdict and more about what the process does to the people inside it.”

Talking about the film, Lead actor Malikireddy Veer Reddy said, “Playing Veer was never about portraying a flawless hero; it was about exploring a man discovering the limits of his own courage. He doubts, he errs, yet he cannot ignore injustice — that contradiction drove my performance. This story is deeply personal for me, a tribute to my father whose values shaped every moment of my journey. What struck me most about courtroom drama wasn’t the verbal fireworks but the silence — the pause before an answer, a glance that betrays fear. Real pressure isn’t loud; it’s lived. We kept the film grounded and avoided melodrama so that viewers don’t just watch Veer argue a case — they feel the cost of carrying it.”
