Chennai Surgeon bags the prestigious ‘Joyce & James Till’ Grant
Chennai, 15th Aug, 2019: Chennai based surgeon Dr. P. V. Sudharsan who is an Elite of Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ), an Active Knowledge Gaining component of the Annual International Stem Cell Meet, NCRM NICHE (www.ncrmniche.org) has been awarded the 2019-Joyce & James Till Travel (J2T2) Grant (www.j2t2grant.org) by the NCRM NICHE 2019 Organizing Committee in Japan. By this grant, Dr. P.V. Sudharshan will get to participate in the NCRM NICHE 2019 scheduled between 14 ~16 October 2019 in Tokyo, Japan during when he will address the FCQ Elites of 2019. The Joyce and James Till Travel Grant were established in honour of Prof. James Till and his beloved wife Mrs. Joyce Till, with sincere gratitude to Prof James Till for having donated his Edogawa NICHE Prize 2018 (www.edogawanicheprize.org) money to the NCRM NICHE Organizing committee. This grant is to connect the Alumni of Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ) Elite with those Elites of each year during the NCRM NICHE event. The grant will cover the travel and hospitality expenses for the FCQ Elite Alumni who is being awarded the grant to attend the NCRM NICHE event in person and share his experiences with the FCQ Elite of that particular year. Dr. Sudharsan enrolled for the Fujio Cup Quiz in the year 2012, got to the finals and emerged as winners of the Fujio Cup when he was an undergraduate student of Medicine. He then obtained his Masters in Surgery at Madras Medical College, got ATLS certified, completed MRCS and will pursue higher studies in Neurosurgery, having secured top ranks in the national level entrance in 2019. The J2T2 Grant 2019 citation states as follows “His unrelenting passion to learn newer things, commitment to share his knowledge with the youngsters and meticulous involvement with timely completion of the tasks throughout the multi-step selection process have made the jury, honour PV Sudharshan with this 2 grant to participate in the NCRM NICHE 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. We sincerely appreciate his recognition of the values of the opportunities that NCRM NICHE had provided, to explore this evolving domain of regenerative medicine by means of preparing for the FCQ and the network built by participation in the NICHE event. His spirit of sportsmanship by taking part in FCQ, not just to win, but to learn, his ceaseless follow-up for updates in the field and the effort to join the active knowledge gaining event -Fujio Cup Quiz as a quiz master in 2019 are worth a special mention.” The NCRM NICHE was started in 2006 in Chennai, India and since then it is an Annual event conducted every year in the month of October in which the Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ), an Active Knowledge Gaining Event is a major component. Since 2017 the event is conducted in Japan based on a licensing arrangement between NCRM, Chennai, India and GN Corporation Co. Ltd., Japan.
