Tamil Nadu govt fixes sugarcane price
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday announced that the state advised price (SAP) for sugarcane for the season 2016-17 has been fixed at Rs 2,850 per tonne. This included transportation cost of Rs 100. The price is same as that of last year.
"The farmers will get Rs 550 more than the fair and remunerative price (FRP) of Rs 2,300 per tonne fixed by the Centre for the season," the chief minister said in a statement. The central government also continued its last year FRP price.
Karnataka has fixed the minimum support price at Rs 2,600 per tonne while Maharashtra at Rs 2,475 per tonne.
