TN police can guard MLAs in resort but can?t protect girls: M.K
CHENNAI: The law and order situation in Tamil Nadu has worsened, said DMK working president M K Stalin on Monday.
After visiting the family of a three-year-old raped and murdered girl in Tiruvottiyur, Stalin said girls and women are not safe in the state. He accused the government and police department of laxity in their service to the people.
"The police department have personnel to guard MLAs at a resort at Koovathur and also to assault MLAs and evict them from the assembly. The police department is not for protecting women and children," accused Stalin.
Asked about the schemes announced by chief minister K Palaniswami, Stalin said: "Let him sign in as many files as possible. But let him first protect girls. Former chief minister had announced several schemes for protecting girls. I request the present Sasikala benami government under Palaniswami to safeguard girls."
