Statistics overflow in Tamilnadu Assembly
Chennai: The question hour in the Assembly was full of statistics today, as Ministers listed out various measures taken by the AIADMK government in the last 4.5 years.
Minister for Co-operation Sellur K Raju, while replying to Virudhunagar MLA K Pandiarajan, said 6,326 co-operative buildings were constructed in various parts of the State after the AIADMK came to power in 2011.
Minister for Food, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments R Kamaraj said consecrations were conducted at 8,499 temples so far. He said this in reply to legislator Santhi, representing Senthamangalam constituency.
Minister for Industries and Transport P Thangamani said 1,629 new bus routes were introduced in the last 4.5 years and 6,629 route extensions were made. "Buses are being operated to all villages whose population is more than 1,000," he said, in his answer to Pattukottai MLA N R Rengarajan.
Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Law, Courts and Prisons S P Velumani said 216 courts were set up by the AIADMK government and steps were on to create 46 more courts at an expense of Rs 21 crore. He said this in reply to Padmnabhapuram legislator Pushpa Leela Alban.
