Vellore: The shocking incident of two dogs attacks its master to death turned the focus on the Rottweiler breed.

Kirubakaran (56), an assistant in the office of Additional Director General of Police, Government Railway Police, and a resident of Kattupakkam village near Arakkonam, reared a female Rottweiler.

Recently, he brought a male Rotteweiler for breeding purpose. On Tuesday night, when he went to feed them in his mango grove he was attacked by them.

According to a specialist, the dogs could have been under stress and the man’s arrival could have irritated them.

The second possibility was that he might have taken food to them after some delay, which could have angered them. The third possibility, according to the specialist, was that the owner might have tried to apply force to bring them under control, which could have made them aggressive.

When asked about the breed, to the Department of Animal Husbandry, they told Rottweiler is intelligent, alert and agile.

“But of course it is aggressive. One cannot domesticate it beyond a point. Certain breeds are so close to their masters that they even allow their hands inside their mouth. Such kind of intimacy is not possible with Rottweiler,”
