Rain water enters into government hospital
Chromepet: The Tambaram taluk government hospital, also known as Chromepet GH, was flooded on Monday, forcing doctors on duty and paramedical staff to shift patients out of wards.
Patients from the various wards in the hospital?s main building were shifted to the casualty ward. Outpatient wards were completely submerged, visitors to the hospital said.
The flooding forced the Pallavaram Municipality to initiate operations to pump out stagnant water along with Public Works Department. Sandbags were placed to prevent further water from entering the ground floor wards, sources said.
?Areas around the hospital, which is in a low level area, get inundated during monsoon,? hospital staff said. They blamed local residents for damaging a portion of the wall to drain stagnant water from their localities into the hospital.
