PARKOUR - A FITNESS TOOL TO DEVELOP ENDURANCE AND STRENGTH

The inaugural session of Two-day 'GAME CHANGER PARKOUR WORKSHOP'--"BE STRONG....BE FIT....BE FLEXIBLE" was held at Anna Tower Park, Anna Nagar, Chennai on Saturday, 22 September, 2018.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Gaurav Dinesh  who runs Monkey Geans, a centre which is involved in training Parkour said : “Parkour is the art of movement, which mainly is moving efficiently through any urban environment as fast as you can. It's also known as an escape art, to get oneself out of situations. Parkour is a discipline that is unique. The first day of the workshop demonstrated how to train the body and mind to move past obstacles in the path of the traceur using movements such as jumping, vaulting, climbing, crawling, balancing, etc. The second day workshop exhibited an introduction to Calisthenics, a basic form of performing all compound exercises and Circuit training.

Gaurav added : “I have been training Parkour and Calisthenics for 4 years. I started developing the interest for Parkour when I was in schooling. I used to looking a lots of movies and games that used the concept of Parkour. Parkour was originated in France and was founded by David belle as the art of movement. Anyone can very well undergo Parkour training. My goal is to promote Parkour as a more useful form of fitness to people to develop endurance and strength and also to educate them and make them aware of the benefits of training Parkour”. Gaurav studied in Lady Andal Venkata Subba Rao School. He was a Basketball player. He passed out from ICAT as a game designer and programmer, Cambridge Level.
