Jayalalithaa opens renovated spinning mills
Chennai: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurated newly renovated spinning mills worth Rs 147 crore through video conferencing at the Secretariat.
According to an official release, she inaugurated renovated district spinning mill in Kanyakumari and the mill also include facilities like humidification plant, cotton removing machine worth Rs 31 crore. She also inaugurated the Anna Cooperative Spinning Mill renovated at cost of Rs 30.38 crore at Andipatti in Theni and Bharathi Spinning mill renovated at Rs 26.90 crore at Ettaiyapuram in Thoothukudi.
Other spinning mills include Pudukottai district spinning mill renovated at the cost of Rs 26.90 crore in Aranthangi, Krishnagiri district spinning mill worth Rs 28.39 crores in Uthankarai.
Highlighting the importance of textiles and spinning mills in the developing economy and generating employments, the Tamilnadu government has taken various steps for the welfare of weavers apart from renovating the spinning mills at huge cost.
