Jayalalithaa gives Rs.2 crore for Chennai Open
Chennai: Tamilnadu government today sanctioned Rs.2 crore for conducting the popular ATP tennis tournament - the Chennai Open. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa handed over a cheque to Tamilnadu Tennis Association (TNTA) president M A Alagappan today, an official press release said.
Tamilnadu government, which is the Lead Platinum Sponsor for the event, has sanctioned its contribution of Rs.2 crore, the release said The release alsio recalled various other sports promotion activities carried out by the government, including hiking cash rewards for medal winners in international events.
The ATP tournament will take place at the Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu tennis stadium in Nungambakkam from 4 to 10 January, 2016. Honorary secretary of TNTA C B N Reddy and CEO of the association Hiten Joshi were also present on the occasion.
