Electric Vehicles Create a Buzz at EV EXPO South 2018 at Bengal

EV EXPO South 2018, the 1st Expo dedicated to eco-friendly electric Vehicle technology is showcasing a range of e-vehicles for personal and commercial use.

Bengaluru, September 22,  2018- Southern India's biggest eco-friendly Electric Vehicle Technology Expo 'EV EXPO South 2018'  kick-started ysterday at Chandragupta Maurya Playground/ Shalini Ground , Jayanagar, Bengaluru.

The 3 day Expo was inaugurated by Shri. R Ashok, Former Dy. CM & Transport Minster, Karnataka & current Chairman, PAC. Sh. Kamal, Bali, President & MD-Volvo Group India, Sh. Ravi Subramanya, MLA,  Sh. V Somanna, Former Minister & present MLA, Smt. Tara Anuradha,  Film Actress &  former MLC, Sh. Uday Garudachar,  MLA, Sh. A Devegowda, MLC, Ms Sowmya Reddy, MLA,  Smt Malati B Somashekar, BBMP Corporater, Sh. Gitesh Agarwal, Trade & Investment Commissioner, India, Sh. Anuj Sharma, Chairman, E-Rickshaw Committee, & Sh. Rajiv Arora, Director of Altius Auto Solutions Pvt. Ltd. were the other digintaries present at the occassion.

For the first time in Bengaluru, this 3 day event is showcasing the latest and technologically advanced, pollution free 2 & 3 wheeled e-vehicles like E-Rickshaws, E-Carts, E-bikes, E-scooters, E-bicycles as well as E-loaders by more than 40 national and international companies. Latest Lithium batteries and Charging stations are also being displayed at the expo.

Just like the opening day, the 2nd day of the Expo witnessed a huge footfall of both business visitors as well as common Bengalureans, curious to see the latest e-vehicles being presented by over 40 companies from India and abroad.

Some of the attractions at the EV Expo South 2018 include

E-Bicycles - A number of companies from various parts of India and even Bengaluru have launched or are showcasing battery powered E-bicycles. Aimed at the young and environmentally conscious, these hybrid e-bicycles are powered by lead acid or Lithium ion batteries. On one charge these can take the rider to a distance of 25-35Kms. Priced in the range of Rs 20,000/- to 23,000/- these are proving to be quite a crowd puller at the Expo. Some companies displaying these are Ludhiana based GeeKay brand and Bengaluru based Rajamane.

Electric Race Car - A single seater electric race car  developed by students of  RV College of Engineering, that can cover 75m in 5 seconds and reach a maximum  speed of 120kmph is quite a hit at the Expo.  Built at the cost of Rs 12 lakhs under the banner of Team Chimera, this car can cover a distance of 40Km on one full charge.

Electric Leisure Bike & Super Bike - by Kolkata based ETRON. The Harley inspired leisure e-bike can achieve a maximum speed of 60-65kmph and run 60-70km on one full charge. It is priced around Rs. 55,000/-. The electric Super bike on the other hand is priced around Rs. 1,40,000/- and has the highest speed of 120kmph and runs upto 130 km on single charge.

Electric Auto -under Saarthi brand from Champion Polyplast. One of its kind product at the Expo, this e-auto has car suspension, disc brakes, central locking. reverse camera, music system and lithium ion battery. Price finalization subject to awaited subsidy allocation from Niti Ayog.

4 wheeled Electric Campus vehicle/cart - from Coimbatore based ECO dynamic Electric Vehicles. 6 seater cart can carry a load of 750KG and is priced around Rs. 3,75,000/-. Useful for Campuses in IT companies, hospitals, resorts, factories and universities.

E-Rickshaws- Around 15 exhibitors are displaying their vehicles in this category. Priced in range of Rs 80-90,000/- with lead acid batteries, these incorporate better safety features, comfortable seating and attractive looks. Can run 80-90 Km on single charge and are best suited for sustainable last mile mobility in cities like Bengaluru. Some companies in this segment are Soni e-vehicles, Victory Electric Intl., Reep India pvt.ltd, Baaz, ETRON, Dilli Electric, City Green Auto etc.
