Day 1 of Surlok- Cultural fest of SGND Khalsa College
New Delhi: Known for being one of the most happening and well known fest of Delhi University's fest season of 2018, Surlok, the cultural festival of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College kick started on the morning of thursday, february 15, 2018. The fest was inaugurated by Abhilash khandelkar(famous reporter), Majeet Singh G.K.(President DSGPC), Paramjeet Singh Rana (Dharam Parchar Committee), Ravinder Singh Khurana(Chairman DSGPC),Professor J.S. Virdi, S.G.S Suri (Member Governing body), S.A.S. Chauher (Member Governing body),Bunny Jolly along with the Principal,Dr.Manmohan kaur. At the time of inaugural ceremony the chief guest and the Principal shared their words of wisdom and encouraged the students to take such initiative on regular basis.They said,"It is the stage of learning and experiencing,no matter who wins or loses."
The college Principal , Dr. Manmohan Kaur along with the chief guest presided over the function . The first day of the Surlok '18 was visited by large number of students. Students from over more than 40 colleges in Delhi NCR participated in inter-collegiate competions like lawanya ( solo singing ) , jas gayan ( gurbani kirtan ), ( turban tying ) lawanya ( Indian classical choir ) , shades of grey ( poster making ) , pose ( on the spot fashion photography ) , kawya mala ( poem recitation competition ) , desi beats ( folk dance ) , draamebaaz ( acting and mimicry ) , last but not the least dekh tamasha ( nukkad natak ) .
Indian classical choir, folk dance and nukkad natak set the tone for the first day of the festival with vibrant folk dances from across the length and breadth of the country. The colourful costumes and earthy music reflected the culture diversity and talent in our country and left the audience.
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College,a prominent institution of Delhi University initiated its three day cultural extravaganza.
