DMK to stage protest against AP, TN govts
CHENNAI: The DMK will stage a demonstration at Vellore district collectorate on July 19 to protest against the Andhra Pradesh government raising the heights of a check dam across the Palar river.
The protest is also against the Tamil Nadu government's failure to "take any action" against the Andhra Pradesh government.
"Except writing a letter to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has not taken any action against that state. Our leader (M Karunanidhi) wanted the state government to take action either through court or by talking to the AP government.
But nothing has happened and the protest is against both the Andhra Pradesh government and the Jayalalithaa government," said a senior DMK leader.
DMK treasurer M K Stalin and party headquarters principal secretary Durai Murugan will lead the protest which will begin at 10am.
