Complaint filed against metro construction firms
Chennai: A complaint was filed at the Commissioner's office in Vepery against metro construction giants Mosmetrostroy India Private Limited and Gammon India Limited by Chennai Vendors Association, Pammal. The complainants alleged that the companies have hugely deferred in payments of crores to a number of local companies.
A copy of the complaint copy says that on 29 April, Mosmetrostroy India left the project citing financial irregularities by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).
But when they left, they did not settle accounts with 300 odd smaller companies they were dealing with here and worked under the two big companies. Around 6000 families are affected due to the financial crunch as the legal procedures also being delayed.
The complaint copy also says, after the first one was filed, an amount of Rs 3,25 crores was settled after a video conferencing discussion. Now, Mosmetrostroy India owes an amount of Rs 23 crore and Gammon India, a whopping Rs 40 crore.
