Chak de Punjabi at Mast Kalandar
Bringing the best of Punjab this winter Chennai, 6th January 2014: Mast Kalandar will host a special Punjab winter festival with dishes specially handpicked to bring out the strong flavours from various regions of Punjab. The restaurant will offer ‘Chak De Punjabi Thalli’ a special combo meal which will be made available across Mast Kalandar outlets between 9th January 2014 and 2nd February 2014.
The Thalli will consist of authentic Punjabi dishes like the Sarso Saag, healthy delicacy made with rich greens, Makki Roti, Pindi Cholle, Daal Makhan, also a specialty of Mast Kalandar which is made with special butter garlic flavour. The long simmer brings in aromatic flavours and taste to the Daal. The other dishes include Mixed Vegetable Pulao, Salad, Raita, the traditional chaas, various fresh winter vegetables which will vary day to day in the thalli.
Apart from this, the thalli will also offer Pinni ke laddo, a classic Punjabi specialty which is prepared with roasted wheat flour, dry fruits and ghee. The highlight of the grand festival meal is the Revari, dry sweet made of sesame seeds or til oil. This Ludhiana specialty takes about 10-15 hours of preparation time to make few kilograms.
The dough is hammered until the sesame seeds break down and release the oils in the dough. To set the festive mood for the winter festival, Mast Kalandar will setup corn counters at their outlets which is a winter specialty in North India. Also, the restaurant will offer laddoos and revaris at a special price.
