Perundurai: Keeping up with the times, the AIADMK has promised free cellphones for all ration card-holders in its election manifesto that was released this evening by party general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for the 16 May Assembly election.

Another important promise that is aimed at the party?s traditional vote bank ? women ? is that they will get 50 per cent subsidy to buy mopeds and scooties. Releasing the manifesto at Perundurai election rally, Jayalalithaa said she was happy to release it in the district where Periyar was born. The first copies were given to young party cadres.

The last to release the election manifesto, the AIADMK supremo had been campaigning till today highlighting the achievements of her government so far. Promising waiver of all farm loans, Jayalalithaa also promised Rs 40,000 crore loans for farmers during her next term in 2016-21

Turning to the fisherfolk, their assistance during the non-fishing season is to be hiked to Rs 5,000. They are also promised separate houses. Continuing the free laptop scheme, the manifesto also promises Internet connection for class 10 and class 12 students. For the students, she promises that the education loans of those who are still unemployed would be paid by the government. There would be free wi-fi in public places, adds the manifesto.

Tackling a major issue that has been dogging Tamilnadu during the lean summer seasons, Jayalalithaa promises uninterrupted power supply.

She said poor people would get Amma Banking Cards to avail of all government services, while all ration card-holders will get Co-optex coupons worth Rs 500 for the Pongal festival.

The manifesto assures of expanding master health check-up and special check-up for women in all districts. The granite policy would be tweaked, says the AIADMK supremo, who also promises a Lok Ayukta for the State.

Targeting the religious sentiments of people, Jayalalithaa says the government would sanction Rs 1 lakh for temples of local deities. Turning to the price of Aavin milk, she says it would be provides for Rs 25 a litre.
