Bike service camps on top gear
Chennai: A staff member at TVS service Centre, Tambaram said, 'We usually get around 15 two-wheelers a day. But after the camp started, the number has already crossed 60 (till 12pm).
The free service camps to repair flood-hit vehicles, a joint initiative by the Tamilnadu government and auto majors, are seeing large number of vehicles not just in Chennai but also in the other districts like Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur.
Conducted on the request of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the camps at facilities of the four motorcycle companies TVS Motor, India Yamaha Motor, Bajaj Auto and Eicher Motors are seeing vast numbers with most vehicles suffering the engine damage.
Officials from Bajaj service centre at Velacheri said, 'While the majority of the two-wheelers come with damaged clutch plates and brakepads, auto-rickshaws was jammed as water entered gear boxes. Most of the parts were rusted.'
Special camps will happen till 21 December through 200 distributors in the four districts.
