Pichaikkaran Movie Review
Cast: Vijay Antony, Satna Titus
Directed by Sasi
Music Director: Vijay Antony
Cinematography: Prasanna Kumar
Editor: Veera Senthil Raj
Pichaikkaran is the story of a man, played by Vijay Antony, who disguises himself as a beggar and leads the life of one, spending time on the streets of Tamil Nadu. What is the reason behind him wearing the mask of a beggar? Why does he opt for a sombre lifestyle when he can live life king size? Answers to these questions is what the film is all about.
Vijay Antony as a millionaire and a beggar shows minimal differences through his performance. The awkwardness as a beggar that he depicts in the beginning is noteworthy, though. While all seems good with his performance in the beginning, it starts to get monotonous with his subtlety. Satna Titus adds drama to the tale and so does the rest of the supporting cast.
Apart from the lead roles, the movie has John Kennedy and Bagavathi Perumal in supportive roles.
Cinematography by Prasanna Kumar stands out all the way through. His usage of different colours and tones to match up to the mood of different scenes works in favour of Pichaikkaran. Music by Vijay Antony is another positive as it adds stability to the film. Also, it's good to realize that Vijay Antony the musician is back. Editing by Veera Senthil Raj deserves a mention, for his cuts are razor sharp throughout. Screenplay and directed by Sasi is good to watch.
