Mohal Lal’s ‘Pulimurugan’ beats Mammootty’s ‘Kasaba’
Mohanalal’s Pulimurugan shook the Kerala box office by becoming the fastest grosser to cross the Rs 20-crore mark in five days.
Last week after day one collections, Pulimurugan had already set a record in Malayalam cinema by becoming the movie to collect a hefty sum on a single day as none of the film, including superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, has achieved such a feat.
Releasing on the same day along with Thoppil Joppan, the movie had managed to earn twice as much as Mammooty’s film on its opening day.
The Vysakh directorial Pulimurugan is all set to become the superstar’s highest grosser in Malayalam.
Apart from breaking the record of Oppam, which had earned Rs 20 crore in 11 days, Pulimurugan has also crossed the lifetime gross collection of a few other language movies as well.
The Mohanlal-starrer has emerged as the highest opening day grosser in Malayalam with an approximate collection of Rs 4.08 crore, which is Rs 1.65 crore more than Mammootty’s Kasaba that made Rs 2.43 crore on its first day at Kerala box office.
The long Puja holidays helped Pulimurugan to witness a tremendous business on the first week itself. It has also turned out to be a big hit at the multiplexes in Kochi with total earnings of Rs 72.95 lakh within five days.
