Kamal Hassan wants to be a Kannadiga
Guess who wants to be Kannadiga? None other than veteran actor Kamal Hassan. The actor took to the stage to honour the Kannada film industry at the Indian Film Industry Centenary Ceremony in Chennai on Sunday, and said that he wants to be a Kannadiga as he has acted in Kannada films. "Artists do not have language barriers and are a part of every language that they act in.
I have acted in Kannada films and I want to be a Kannadiga. We artists are the same wherever we are and I am a proof of that. Look at Bharathi Vishnuvardhan and Jayanthi — they have acted in films in all southern languages and people of all the languages identify with them," he said, while delivering his speech at the occasion.
The adulation for Kannada didn't end there, as Kamal went on to add that he "belongs to Kannada" and that he would have been a part of the Sandalwood celebrations even if he wasn't invited to do so.
